Our Story
Christ Church: A Legacy of Faith and Resilience
Rooted in Tradition: For over 300 years, Christ Church has stood as a beacon of faith, tracing its origins to one of the ten parishes established by the Church Act of 1706. Our congregation first gathered in 1708, decades before America’s birth, united by a mission to uphold Scripture and share the gospel.
Tested by Time: Our history is marked by perseverance through adversity. The original wooden structure, and later replacements, were destroyed in the flames of war—yet, each time, our congregation’s resolve to rebuild proved stronger than the fires that tested us. This resilience is the cornerstone of our legacy.
Unwavering Dedication to Our Founding Principles: After the Revolution, joining the Episcopal Diocese reflected our deep commitment to the teachings of the Bible. But as times changed, so did the church landscape. In 2012, to stay true to the core values that have guided us since our founding over 300 years ago, we faced a pivotal choice. To maintain the purity of our mission, we made the tough decision to leave The Episcopal Church and join hands with the Anglican Church in North America
A Tragic Loss: This choice was not without sacrifice. Legal disputes over property stripped us of our cherished worship space—a place built and nurtured by generations of our faithful congregation. Yet, this loss has not deterred us; it has galvanized us.
Forging Ahead: Now, as Christ Church Anglican, we find strength in temporary quarters while envisioning a new, permanent home. A generous $3.2 million land donation from a member of our congregation has laid the foundation for our future—a testament to our shared vision and enduring mission.
A Call to Action: Our capital campaign is more than a fundraiser; it’s a call to join a legacy of faith that has weathered centuries. Your support helps us continue our mission to uphold the authority of Scripture and spread the gospel for generations to come.
